Proverbs 17:17

Proverbs 17:17 “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”

I have a near, special friend of mine who is a man and i am now not ashamed to tell him that i like him.  i really like him more than a brother.  This guy is sincere enough to inform me the fact, even if he knows it hurts and he is open sufficient to hear a buddies rebuke.   King David and Jonathan had a love like this as described in 1 samuel 18:1 “As soon as he had finished speak me to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan cherished him as his personal soul.” What a treasured factor. Their souls were knit together…they have been product of the same fabric, so to speak.  Jonathan cherished David “as his own soul” which reminds me of Jesus’ 2d commandment of the two finest…to love your neighbor as your self.  This become repeated later in 1 samuel 20:17 while “Jonathan had David reaffirm his oath out of affection for him, because he cherished him as he loved himself.”
